Yarmookes on me ossicones

Is havin somethin o a sartorioo an traditioo crisees, so I wrote to Rabbi Moorope for advice. (Has hers permissioo for postin advice for benefit o othoo Jeweesh look looks on the Internets.)

Neyo Rabbi Moorope,

Has a very importoo questioo for yoo regardin Hebrews Moo. Were thinkin about makin the Grr knit me a yarmooke, but would be very difficoo to make eet stay on me ead, what with not many tufts to pin eet to an with ead appendages (ears an ossicones) stickin right up an lookin bloody stoopeed. Wondered if eet would be acceptaboo for makin yarmooke with holes what I can stick my ossicones up throo, then would stay on much bettoo. Only, the whole point am covooin the tufts an ead, right? Would eet be moo approprioo to covoo ossicones as well?

Yoos in confoosioo,

Manwoo
xx

My dear Manuel,

The purpose of the yarmulke is to cover the head, but neither the Torah nor the Talmud have any specifications on size. It is a symbolic head-covering more than anything, to remind you that G-d and heaven are above you or to show your identification with the Jewish culture. Some people wear very tiny yarmulkes when doing things like exercising–they don’t have to cover the entire skull. I think a kippah with earholes would be just fine (not to mention adorable).

Whether you cover the ossicones is up to you (and the Grr who is making it for you), but I think it’s not necessary. And it would make the kippah pretty lumpy looking.

Shalom,
Rabbi Merope

Ooso asked mummoo, who said what the laws am oftoo contradictoroo an open to interpretatioo. On the whole, thinks what there am no reasoo why ossicone-holes would not be allow.

On furthoo investigatioo, howevoo, had eet pointed out what eet might not look very much like a yarmooke if me ossicones was stickin out. Ooso might make eet too far forwoo on me ead. If I had a tiny littoo yarmooke stuck on the back o me ead that might be bettoo, but has no ideoo how to make eet stay on! Lots o yumans uses tuftsgrips, but hasn’t really got enough tufts to grip.

  1. Is it possible to use a variation on tit tape to keep it on? That’s stuff’s supposed to be used for wigs anyway, isn’t it? Tufts tape?

  2. Oooh! Eiloo is smart. We were thinking of tape. Though we were thinking of duck tape. But only use veggie duck tape–don’t want to hurt a real duck.

Also, as in most cases, caaaandy could be helpful. Very sticky. Have the Grr suck on a hard caaaandy for a few seconds, and then stick it on your head, and then stick yarmooke on that.

Oh, good point, Guys. Should use kosher caaaandy.

    OK Bye

PS Thank you, Mr. Eaf, for fixing it so I can post.

  3. Manwoo, has the grr ever seen button loops (vs. button holes)? Maybe she could make loops that slip over your ears and/or ‘cones and the yarmulke kind of hangs down from them toward the back. If she doesn’t know how to make these, I could show her on Tuesday.
